How to make pattern in Adobe illustrator with swatches

follow me with step by step

1.make some simple geometric pattern like this

2. select the pattern and then go to "Object select pattern " and after that select "make"

3.Then select what type of tile arrangement and copies you want , just play with the attributes

4.Now just draw a shape you want , i drew a simple rectangle then go to swatches panel in right side
